Marvelous collection, Mike. I haven’t been there, but I seems like the photos are catching the essence of life there. I really like the honesty in them. My favourite one is the peanut seller. I’m not sure why, perhaps the body position/gesture. Which one is your favourite?

Beatiful photography – I’ve never been to Stone Town but spent some time in Lamu, further up the coast off Kenya. These remind me of it.

Hi Mark,
Very beautiful pictures here, and b&w makes everything appear so different and distant! It certainly made it easier to see the pictures of slaughtered animals!

Black and white brings out the drama of all those dead animals more than color could. A brilliant idea.Zanzibar has been on the back of my mind for a long time, glad you went and brought it back to the forefront for me. Talk about inspiration.

When I went to Zanzibar, I only stopped in Stone Town for a few hours before my flight. Its an amazing vibrant place and its well worth staying overnight. There are a number of wonderful unique hotels where you can base yourself ready to explore the maze of streets.
