VIDEO: Comforting Motherly Food in Darjeeling

By Mark Wiens 7 Comments

In this video, I’ll show you one of the best local restaurants in all of Darjeeling, India. The food was so fresh and delicious, that I went back numerous times in a row to be fed at this truly motherly restaurant.

Here’s the video:

Thank you for watching!

Located in central Darjeeling, India, Singalila Restaurant serves up a mouthwatering meal of local Nepali and Sikkim dishes.

The hot rice paired with a variety of curries and sauces made each meal I ate there amazing. When I was in Darjeeling, it was extremely cold, so this meal warmed me from the inside out!

I love what I see, my stomach just started making noises, have to go do some cooking. Price wise and food wise, India is a must go, you are one of the lucky ones to be there now, enjoy!

Hi Mark! I loved the video even though it’s made me feel like rushing over to get my rice cooker on. What first drew me to the post is your title because “Comforting” and “Motherly” are exactly the words I think of when I think of food in Darjeeling. There is something about being up in the cool (or cold!) foothills that makes the food in Darjeeling taste magically comforting.

Hey Marie, glad you think of those same words about the food in Darjeeling, it’s so true!

We have amazing Indian food in Singapore and my family’s favourite breakfast is Indian paratha bread with dhal curry, mutton curry, and fried bitter gourds.
    Love your blog.
