Dar Es Salaam Kigamboni Ferry
Dar Es Salaam Kigamboni Ferry

Location: Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania

To get to South Beach from the main portion of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, it’s necessary to take a 5 minute ferry ride to the other side – located very close to the Dar Es Salaam fish market.

Cars are the least used form of transportation when entering the Kigamboni ferry crossing, even for goods and produce. Bikes full of vegetables, overloaded motorcycles and people on foot carrying things makes for a sweaty and energetic ferry ride.

That’s my parents’ car in the lower right hand corner!

Kigamboni is one of best part of Dar es Salaam, just enjoy the sunshine, beautifull unspoilt beach. Most welcoming local people and hoteliers. Just hire a banda and enjoy the day, it’s better then going luxery resort. Kiigamboni is natural unspoilt resort that most tourist in Tanzania never see.
I am glad in way Tanzania do not publicise resort like this. Otherwise tourist will destroy it. I believe Americans have bought lot of land to develop into mega tourist attraction. I have seen the future plans, it’s bit like mini Dubai. Please don’t let developers destroy Tanzania.

Hey Kishan, I fully understand, and I too hope that this beautiful stretch of Tanzanian coastline doesn’t become too developed. It’s such an amazing place!
