Isn’t the hand pounded peanut candy awesome?

Thailand’s annual vegetarian festival is a chance to cleanse, take part in rituals, and most importantly, eat lots of vegetarian Thai food!

This year, I had a chance to go down to Bangkok’s Chinatown to view some festivities and mostly EAT!

This is a 2 Part video series showing some of the awesome snacks and meals.

In Part 2, I get a black beverage, that I actually have no clue as to what it is before trying it, and sample some little dumplings of deep fried goodness.

The Thailand vegetarian festival takes places annually, normally falling sometime in September or October.

Thanks for watching the videos!

I don’t know Mark, your facial expression when you tasted that first dish in video 1 wasn’t your usual “delicious face”. Your words said it was great, but your face wasn’t agreeing. haha

Haha, not quite as flavorful as normal Thai food!

    Mark,

I live in Japan and have visited many of the places in Asia you have written about. But having gotten “traveler’s diahrrea” on more than one occasion, I’ve always been careful about iced drinks. You don’t seem to have a problem with this at all…have you acquired immunity over time?

Hey Makakiko, yah, I guess it just depends upon your own body and how you handle the different bacterias. Of course, there’s always a risk involved in drinking anything, but at the same time, if you do it for a prolonged period of time you’ll definitely build a resistance. In Thailand, I’ve never had a problem, but visiting other places I’m sometimes more cautious.

…I had a ticket to Bangkok on October 8th. I moved it to November because plans changed. BUT I WOULD HAVE GIVEN THAT A SERIOUS SECOND THOUGHT IF I KNEW ABOUT THIS FESTIVAL!!

    Sounds fun 😉

Hey Naomi, that’s alright, maybe you can be in Thailand (or better Phuket), for the festival another year – it happens annually! Hope you’re doing well!
