Migrationology Plans for the Next 6 Months

For the past 10 months I have been more or less in Bangkok with a legit established English teaching sub-professional thing which some people call a “job.”
Though I have been able to take a few incredible international trips to places like Angkor Wat, Mount Kinabalu, Bandar Seri Begawan, and countless domestic adventures, the sense of a job was almost like having 1 arm in a handcuff.
With only two months left on my year long contract, I’ve been able to organize (not fully planned) an itinerary for the next 6 months.  I’m mostly writing …

Luscious Malaysian Curry Laksa

Malaysian Curry Laksa
Restaurant: Kedai Kopi Yee Fung
Location: Gaya Street (close to Stay In Lodge), Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia
Cost: 5 MYR ($1.55)
With an artful composition, an ambrosial aroma, a flavor from paradise, and a satisfaction that surpasses understanding, it’s no wonder I spent my last 5 Ringgits on a delightful bowl of Malaysian Curry Laksa and was forced to walk myself to the airport…

Curry Laksa is a combination of flavors that you dream about having in your mouth all at once.  The creamy coconut curry soup blends with the soft …

15 Ways To Have a Blast in Buenos Aires

I spent about 3 months in Buenos Aires taking a TESOL course.  This is my list of ways to have fun (mostly in order) in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  If you have spent time in BA and know other ways to have a blast in Buenos Aires, I’d love to hear your comments!

1.  Boca Juniors Football Match at La Bombonera
In Buenos Aires, if you like football (soccer) or not, seeing a yellow and blue Boca Juniors match is an absolute must. Along with a few local friends (recommended) I sat in the cheapest standing section of …

World Cup of Cuisine: 32 Culinary Nations Battle in South Africa 2010

Along with football (soccer) skills, each team competing in the Fifa World Cup 2010 brings its own unique and distinct culinary flavors to South Africa creating a fusion of clashing delicacies.  The agglomeration constructs a tremendous assortment of national dishes and comfort foods that are both contrasting and complementary to each other.  All countries have mastered techniques of food cooking and distinct flavors to please their populations.

Welcome to the World Cup of Cuisine 2010!
I am aware that each country is full of dishes to be proud of and not even close to all of them …

Migration Mark explores Phnom Penh, Cambodia – Video Documentary 2010

This is my first amateur attempt at producing a video in the form of a short documentary.  The video showcases a few markets, bug eating, things to do, and other culinary adventures in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.  It could still use some work, and I could work on my narrative, but it’s my debut attempt.
If you have 10 minutes I would be grateful if you would check out this video and let me know your thoughts or ways to improve.  Thanks a lot!
I plan to start making other 10 minute or …

How to Get From Kota Kinabalu to Brunei in 1 Day

It’s quite an easy process to travel from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia, to Bandar Seri Begawan in Brunei in a single day.  I recently took the journey completely hassle free, comfortable, and arrived safely.

16 Ways To Have a Thrilla In Manila

I spent 2 enjoyable months in Manila doing things like volunteering in Payatas, jogging through chaotic side streets, eating peculiar fried and boiled edible items, and making ultra spontaneous decisions.  Though Manila is not the cleanest or nicest looking city in Asia, it has a unique atmospheric buzz and presents amazing opportunities of adventure and submersion.  Here is a list of 16 fabulous ways to have a Thrilla in Manila.
1.  Spanish Old Town (Intramuros)
The colonial Spanish walled in area of Intramuros is an interesting place to breeze around. Churches and schools built with complete Spanish influence make it …

A Haven of Serenity in Sangkhlaburi

Sangkhlaburi is a small town located about 5 hours Northwest of Bangkok in the province of Kanchanaburi, Thailand, on the Burmese border.  It is a haven of serenity and a superb place to unwind, relax, eat, and wander about.
Wooden Bridge at Dawn and Dusk
The longest wooden bridge in Thailand looks like a game of pick up sticks, with boards and branches pounded into place by dull nails. The bridge itself is entertaining to walk across as is observing the clientele who traffic the bridge daily. At dawn, …

How To Be Native in Cambodia

From spending 24 Hours at Angkor Wat to aimlessly walking around the capital of Phnom Penh, in order to fit in to the Cambodian lifestyle, you will need to follow a few or possibly all of these tips.
1.  Parkas and Gore-Tex
If you venture outside or somewhere onto the street, whatever you do, don’t forget the North Face down parkas.  Locals don’t appreciate the glorious sunshine.  I saw numerous people rocking the latest in mittens, leggings,  scarves, and long johns.
2.  100cc Family Vehicle
The Dodge Caravan is no longer the family of 5 vehicle …

Migrationology in 2009

When 2009 rolled in, I had just returned to the the United States from Patagonia to attend my sisters wedding in Phoenix, Arizona.
It was in February 2009 under the influence of a carne asada burrito that I decided it was time to record my migrationology travels in the form of online documentation. I knew next to nothing about the web world, (twitter was literally just the sound of a bird to me).  Utilizing gallons of my parents coffee and my addiction to yerba mate from Argentina, along with free internet, I …
