<p>Located in South Phoenix, <strong>Ethiopian Famous Restaurant</strong> is for all practical purposes located in the heart of Mexico.</p>
<p>But as soon as you crack the door to the Somalian mini-mart, the aromas change from fresh tortillas and tamales to blasts of <em><a title="Berbere" href="http://migrationology.com/2009/03/what-is-ethiopian-food-insights-into-the-wondrous-cuisine/" target="_blank">berbere</a></em> and intoxicating African spices.</p>
<p>In the minimart you&#8217;ll see gunny sacks of the staple grain known as teff piled on palettes, a humble selection of Somalian and Ethiopian food products, and a decent amount of traditional Islamic and Orthodox clothing and religious paraphernalia.</p>
<p>In the back is where most of the outstanding smells are created &#8211; an authentic Ethiopian restaurant known as Ethiopian Famous Restaurant and Coffee.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="Ethiopian Famous Restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7069/6897443452_44ff313bf5_b.jpg" alt="6897443452 44ff313bf5 b Authentic Ethiopian Food in Phoenix: Ethiopian Famous Restaurant and Coffee" width="640" height="960" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Ethiopian Famous Restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona</p></div>
<p>Cook, mother, and owner <strong>Abebech</strong>, is the type of person you want on your food team. She immediately produced an aura of food expertise just like <a title="Mama Chapati" href="http://migrationology.com/2011/01/chapati-tanzania-african/" target="_blank">mama chapati</a> in Morogoro.</p>
<p>Just like <a title="The Smart Village" href="http://migrationology.com/2011/01/nairobi-smart-village-eritrean-restaurant/" target="_blank">The Smart Village</a>, Famous Ethiopian Restaurant is not even like a restaurant, it&#8217;s like eating in an Ethiopian home &#8211; and the food boasts the same home comforting flavors.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="Key Wat" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7045/6897444382_830317ed4a_o.jpg" alt="6897444382 830317ed4a o Authentic Ethiopian Food in Phoenix: Ethiopian Famous Restaurant and Coffee" width="640" height="427" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Key Wat</p></div>
<p>One of the standard Ethiopian dishes I can&#8217;t do without is <em>Key Wat</em>. The dish could be called just Ethiopian beef stew, but in reality it&#8217;s a complex curry filled with all sorts of pungent spices and loaded with garlic and onions.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="Ethiopian Food in Phoenix" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7200/7043540069_2d8efe93da_o.jpg" alt="7043540069 2d8efe93da o Authentic Ethiopian Food in Phoenix: Ethiopian Famous Restaurant and Coffee" width="640" height="960" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Ethiopian Food in Phoenix</p></div>
<p>Along with the mixed vegetable platter and the mixed meat platter came a nice dosage of <em>Doro Wat</em>, one of Ethiopia&#8217;s most famous dishes. The sauce is an intricate combination of spices and onions simmered until they turn into a rich sauce blend. The hard boiled egg made it even better.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="One of many many bites of Ethiopian food!" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7092/6897446494_719dfe052d_o.jpg" alt="6897446494 719dfe052d o Authentic Ethiopian Food in Phoenix: Ethiopian Famous Restaurant and Coffee" width="640" height="427" /><p class="wp-caption-text">One of many many bites of Ethiopian food!</p></div>
<p>Every single bite of Ethiopian food is an explosion of delightful taste &#8211; and I can&#8217;t get enough of it. Abebech makes here own <em>injera</em> (pancake bread) daily, so it&#8217;s soft and spongy.</p>
<p>As normal, I stuffed in a lot of food very fast, and when I started to think about the amount I had already eaten, I started to surrender &#8212; to slow down at the mercy of the food.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re interested, watch this quick video on <a title="Ethiopian food" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6zNxuGK9Vo" target="_blank">how to eat Ethiopian food</a> &#8211; it&#8217;s one of the first videos I&#8217;ve ever made, so feel free to laugh a litte!</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="Messy and stunning bowl of doro wat!" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7043/7043542063_7776e8cd74_o.jpg" alt="7043542063 7776e8cd74 o Authentic Ethiopian Food in Phoenix: Ethiopian Famous Restaurant and Coffee" width="640" height="960" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Messy and stunning bowl of doro wat!</p></div>
<p>Unfortunately, Ethiopian Famous Restaurant wasn&#8217;t able to obtain fresh enough beef for the <em>Kitfo</em> (Ethiopian raw beef tartare) the night I went, but one of the best dishes was the extra spicy bowl of <em>Doro Wat</em> (different version from the one above).</p>
<p>It was nothing but the purest ambrosia in a bowl.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7273/6897446908_ec5ff229ee_o.jpg" alt="6897446908 ec5ff229ee o Authentic Ethiopian Food in Phoenix: Ethiopian Famous Restaurant and Coffee" width="640" height="427" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony</p></div>
<p>To round out the meal, Abebech performed an outstanding <a title="Ethiopian coffee ceremony" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4zgoR_8UJY" target="_blank">Ethiopian coffee ceremony</a>. She did just about everything in the traditional manner beginning with green coffee beans, which she roasted in front of us and proceeded to hand pound the beans and then brew it in the traditional Ethiopian clay coffee pot.</p>
<p>The aroma of freshly roasted coffee paired with the distinct scent of frankincense filled the air of the restaurant. The coffee was sweetened with sugar, perfectly smooth with not even a hint of acidity.</p>
<p>If you enjoy coffee, you won&#8217;t want to miss the Ethiopian coffee ceremony at the end of your meal (you can <a title="Ethiopian coffee ceremony" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4zgoR_8UJY" target="_blank">watch my video here</a>).</p>
<div id="attachment_11668" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img class="size-full wp-image-11668" title="Ethiopian Famous Restaurant and Coffee, Phoenix, Arizona" src="http://migrationology.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/ethiopian-famous-restaurant.jpg" alt="ethiopian famous restaurant Authentic Ethiopian Food in Phoenix: Ethiopian Famous Restaurant and Coffee" width="640" height="427" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Ethiopian Famous Restaurant and Coffee, Phoenix, Arizona</p></div>
<p><a title="Ethiopian food" href="http://migrationology.com/2009/03/what-is-ethiopian-food-insights-into-the-wondrous-cuisine/" target="_blank">Ethiopian food</a> and I go way back, it&#8217;s been one of my most beloved cuisines since growing up in Nairobi. Any chance I get to eat Ethiopian food, I jump at it!</p>

<p>After traveling for a number of years, I recently returned to the United States for about a month long visit. I visited family in Hawaii, friends in Washington D.C., and more family in Phoenix, Arizona.</p>
<p>Just like traveling anywhere else in the world, food is one of my ultimate passions and motivations.</p>
<h1>But what exactly is REAL American food?</h1>
<p>American food is as diverse as its people &#8211; spanning the entire globe. I&#8217;ll let the photos do the talking &#8211; here are the kinds of &#8220;Real American Food&#8221; that I love so much!</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="Chinese barbecued ribs" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7069/6920147476_0230f77e6c_b.jpg" alt="6920147476 0230f77e6c b What is Real American Food? Explained with Lip Licking Photos" width="640" height="960" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Chinese barbecued ribs</p></div>
<p>I flew into Honolulu where I was greeted by relatives and immediately began eating some of my favorite culinary comfort dishes.</p>
<p>These <a title="Hong Kong street food" href="http://migrationology.com/2011/08/hong-kong-street-food-3-days-of-feeding-the-addiction/" target="_blank">Hong Kong street food</a> style ribs are available throughout Chinatown&#8217;s in the United States &#8211; and WOW were these tasty!</p>
<p>From Alicia&#8217;s Market in Honolulu, Hawaii.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="Sushi buffets!" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5342/6920123614_c7b8ecaebd_z.jpg" alt="6920123614 c7b8ecaebd z What is Real American Food? Explained with Lip Licking Photos" width="640" height="426" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Sushi buffets!</p></div>
<p>Japanese food is popular around the world and there are lots of places to eat delicious sushi in the United States. I could barely control myself at this Japanese sushi buffet!</p>
<p>From <a title="Tsukiji Fish Market" href="http://www.yelp.com/biz/tsukiji-fish-market-and-restaurant-honolulu" target="_blank">Tsukiji Fish Market</a> in Honolulu, Hawaii.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="Dim Sum" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5323/7066202239_35b51acd6a_z.jpg" alt="7066202239 35b51acd6a z What is Real American Food? Explained with Lip Licking Photos" width="640" height="426" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Dim Sum</p></div>
<p>I&#8217;m a huge lover of <a title="Hong Kong dim sum" href="http://migrationology.com/2010/10/dim-sum-dining-at-lin-heung-restaurant-in-hong-kong/" target="_blank">dim sum</a>, and to be honest, I think some parts of the United States (particularly Honolulu and San Francisco) have dim sum that rivals Hong Kong.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="Chinese stir fried crab" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5331/7066203113_71faedac5f_z.jpg" alt="7066203113 71faedac5f z What is Real American Food? Explained with Lip Licking Photos" width="640" height="426" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Chinese stir fried crab</p></div>
<p>Since many of my relatives are Chinese, I was able to indulge is some outrageously delicious <a title="Chinese dishes!" href="http://migrationology.com/2012/01/27-popular-chinese-dishes-youll-love-eating-in-yangshuo-china/" target="_blank">Chinese dishes</a> &#8211; like this pile of crab!</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="The Spicy Bomb!" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7219/7066203015_a71a719176_z.jpg" alt="7066203015 a71a719176 z What is Real American Food? Explained with Lip Licking Photos" width="640" height="426" /><p class="wp-caption-text">The Spicy Bomb!</p></div>
<p>This Japanese Hawaiian inspired <em>inari</em> roll, known as a <strong>Spicy Bomb</strong>, was stuffed with rice and piled with spicy tuna &#8211; it was insanely delicious.</p>
<p>Get it at <a title="Genki Sushi" href="http://www.genkisushiusa.com/" target="_blank">Genki Sushi</a> in Honolulu, Hawaii.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="Hawaiian Poke Bowl" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7228/7066205189_d7159b9471_z.jpg" alt="7066205189 d7159b9471 z What is Real American Food? Explained with Lip Licking Photos" width="640" height="427" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Hawaiian Poke Bowl</p></div>
<p>Hawaii also has some of my favorite home-grown creations &#8211; like <a title="Poke Bowls" href="http://migrationology.com/2012/04/hawaiian-poke-bowl-kahuku-superette/" target="_blank">poke bowls</a> &#8211; raw ahi fish marinated in spices and placed over a bed of rice. It just doesn&#8217;t get much better in my opinion.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="Traditional Hawaiian Food" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7040/6920124100_d3a1ff0fb1_z.jpg" alt="6920124100 d3a1ff0fb1 z What is Real American Food? <p>Nothing in Hawaii is more famous than a plate lunch. Plate lunches normally consist of steamed rice, macaroni salad, and a choice of Asian influenced meat such as teriyaki beef, chicken katsu, or fried mahi mahi (pictured above).</p>

<p>Sure, the US has <em>burgers</em> and <em>fries</em> and <em>pizzas</em> and <em>pancakes</em>, but in <strong>REALITY</strong>, the United States is an international melting pot of diverse cultures and cuisines.</p>

<p>I went 3.5 years without Mexican food, apart from that <a title="Sri Lankan chorizo" href="http://migrationology.com/2011/12/soya-center-kandy-sri-lanka-chorizo/" target="_blank">Sri Lankan chorizo</a>.</p>
<p>So when I returned to the States for a quick visit, Mexican food was one cuisine that my stomach was begging me for. Phoenix, Arizona, is where is satisfied myself.</p>
<p>There are random restaurants serving semi-authentic Mexican food in Asia, but I just nearly always chose to stick with local <a title="Thai street food" href="http://www.eatingthaifood.com/2012/04/51-explicit-thai-food-pictures/" target="_blank">Thai street food</a> and not disappoint myself with Mexican food in Asia.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 990px"><img title="Carne Asada Burrito with Rice and Beans" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7247/7042656491_5730b1e5b7_o.jpg" alt="7042656491 5730b1e5b7 o Warning: These Mexican Food Photos Will Make You Drool!" width="980" height="732" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Carne Asada Burrito with Rice and Beans</p></div>
<p>Above is a messy take out foam container filled with a <em>carne asada</em> burrito drenched in enchilada sauce with rice and beans on the inside and on the outside!</p>
<p>It was astonishingly amazing, each bite was a shocking jolt of Mexican food power that I hadn&#8217;t experienced in so long.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 990px"><img title="Beef, Beans, and Salsa" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7241/7042655413_dfa0dcc0e4_o.jpg" alt="7042655413 dfa0dcc0e4 o Warning: These Mexican Food Photos Will Make You Drool!" width="980" height="653" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Beef, Beans, and Salsa</p></div>
<p>There&#8217;s a little restaurant in Tempe, Arizona known as <em>El Pollo Supremo</em> &#8211; or The Supreme Chicken. The restaurant has a very simple menu that includes, chicken (sold by the bird), beef, beans, rice, salsa, pickled onions and tortillas &#8212; that&#8217;s it!</p>
<p>It&#8217;s the real deal &#8211; pure Sonoran food cooked by expert Mexican street chefs. Even though the restaurant is known for their chicken, the beef was equally satisfying.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 990px"><img title="Mexican Grilled Chicken" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7217/7042655031_5be871a4bc_o.jpg" alt="7042655031 5be871a4bc o Warning: These Mexican Food Photos Will Make You Drool!" width="980" height="653" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Mexican Grilled Chicken</p></div>
<p>It almost resembled <a title="Tandoori Chicken" href="http://migrationology.com/2011/12/12-hour-kuala-lumpur-street-food-binge/" target="_blank">tandoori chicken</a> from the outside, but it was fully Mexican in taste and ferociously delicious. Each hunk of chicken was moist and flaky &#8211; perfect when stuffed into a tortilla and smothered in homemade salsa.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 990px"><img title="Huevos Rancheros - Heartwarming Mexican Breakfast!" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7112/6896562112_5c1907875d_o.jpg" alt="6896562112 5c1907875d o Warning: These Mexican Food Photos Will Make You Drool!" width="980" height="732" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Huevos Rancheros - Heartwarming Mexican Breakfast!</p></div>
<p>I was able to spend some time with a few of my best friends (who are from Mexico) and I had the privilege of dining on a few flawless plates of <em>huevos rancheros</em> for breakfast.</p>
<p><strong>This is the way to start your day off well!</strong></p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 990px"><img title="One of my all-time favorite pieces of meat!" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7264/7042655859_d6b8900698_o.jpg" alt="7042655859 d6b8900698 o Warning: These Mexican Food Photos Will Make You Drool!" width="980" height="653" /><p class="wp-caption-text">One of my all-time favorite pieces of meat!</p></div>
<p><strong>But</strong>&#8230; just before breakfast &#8211; we chomped on this <em>pre-breakfast snack.</em></p>
<p>Can you guess what it is? (Hint: It&#8217;s called &#8220;lengua&#8221; in Spanish)</p>
<p>The greasy chunk of pure flaky meat was absolutely stunning. The meat was so tender and so flavorful that I had to close my eyes to savor the moment with every single bite. Normally I enjoy <a title="lengua tacos" href="http://migrationology.com/2010/05/rules-of-engorgement-tacos-de-cabeza/" target="_blank">lengua tacos</a>, but I won&#8217;t complain when faced with an <em>in-tact hunk</em>.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 990px"><img title="Mexican tortilla chips!" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7045/6896560592_ba8db51df9_o.jpg" alt="6896560592 ba8db51df9 o Warning: These Mexican Food Photos Will Make You Drool!" width="980" height="653" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Mexican tortilla chips!</p></div>
<p>I&#8217;ve had random bags of chips throughout the world. Sichuan peppercorn Lays in China, <a title="Tom yum goong" href="http://www.eatingthaifood.com/2011/06/easy-thai-tom-yum-soup-recipe-sour-spicy-soup/" target="_blank">tom yum goong</a> chips in Thailand and just about every meaty salty flavor you can imagine. But I have to give the golden chip award to Mexico.</p>
<p>Seasoned with Mexican spices and doctored up with chili sauce and a squeeze of lime juice, Mexican Tostitos and Doritos are the absolute BEST!</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 543px"><img title="A masterful bean burro" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7274/6896561278_b96569a019_c.jpg" alt="6896561278 b96569a019 c Warning: These Mexican Food Photos Will Make You Drool!" width="533" height="800" /><p class="wp-caption-text">A masterful bean burro</p></div>
<p>Sometimes all you need is a simple bean burrito. Salty refried beans, lots of cheese, and hot sauce wrapped in a tortilla is a perfect hand held treat!</p>

<p>Boston has added another reason to visit as its many restaurants are becoming world-renowned.</p>
<p>Prior to the 1980s, excited travelers arrived to view the city’s history and dining out was an afterthought. That has changed today with the multitude of steak houses, Italian restaurants, Indian cuisine and scrumptious bistros. <h1>1. Washington Monument</h1>
<p>It was my first time to visit the capital city of the United States.</p>
<p>I was surprised at how pleasant the city was, a great place to walk around and check out the many familiar sites of historical significance.</p>
<p>Like visiting the <a title="Traveling to Egypt" href="http://migrationology.com/2011/08/egyptian-budget-travel-guide-cost-of-traveling-to-egypt/" target="_blank">attractions in Egypt</a>, I already had so many mental pictures engrained into my mind of Washington DC &#8211; but seeing everything in reality was just so much better.</p>
<p>I decided to convert a few iconic photos of Washington DC into black and white for this photo essay.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 990px"><img title="National Archives in Washington DC" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7211/6997237669_d586163998_b.jpg" alt="6997237669 d586163998 b 8 Gorgeous Photos of Washington DC (in Black and White)" width="980" height="653" /><p class="wp-caption-text">National Archives in Washington DC</p></div>
<h1>2. National Archives</h1>
<p>The National Archives is home to some of the most important foundational documents of the United States including the US Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence (strictly no photos allowed inside).</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 691px"><img title="Streets of Washington DC" src="http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6091/6997237477_7f9fd860cd_b.jpg" alt="6997237477 7f9fd860cd b 8 Gorgeous Photos of Washington DC (in Black and White)" width="681" height="1024" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Streets of Washington DC</p></div>
<h1>3. Streets of DC</h1>
<p>The central area of importance is known as The National Mall. The streets are well organized and filled with a pleasant selection of historical buildings.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 990px"><img title="Jefferson Memorial" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7191/6851112560_b66bb1d9a3_b.jpg" alt="6851112560 b66bb1d9a3 b 8 Gorgeous Photos of Washington DC (in Black and White)" width="980" height="653" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Jefferson Memorial</p></div>
<h1>4. Jefferson Memorial</h1>
<p>Along with the cherry blossom trees, the view across the shadowy lake at Jefferson Memorial was spectacular!</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 990px"><img title="Abraham Lincoln" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7119/6851139396_a017662bf8_b.jpg" alt="6851139396 a017662bf8 b 8 Gorgeous Photos of Washington DC (in Black and White)" width="980" height="653" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Abraham Lincoln </p></div>
<h1>5. Lincoln Memorial</h1>
<p>Abraham Lincoln is one of the most famous former presidents of the United States. His memorial was much grander than I had previously imagined!</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 990px"><img title="Cherry Blossoms in Washington DC" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7131/6850870884_71efdbbdc5_b.jpg" alt="6850870884 71efdbbdc5 b 8 Gorgeous Photos of Washington DC (in Black and White)" width="980" height="653" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Cherry Blossoms in Washington DC</p></div>
<h1>6. Cherry Blossoms</h1>
<p>I happen to be in Washington DC for the National Cherry Blossoms Festival which takes place this year from March 20 &#8211; April 27. The trees were in full bloom, an intricate sea of white and pink flowers brightening up the city.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 990px"><img title="The White House" src="http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6045/6997237783_0b39026559_b.jpg" alt="6997237783 0b39026559 b 8 Gorgeous Photos of Washington DC (in Black and White)" width="980" height="653" /><p class="wp-caption-text">The White House</p></div>
<h1>7. The White House</h1>
<p>No visit to Washington DC would be the same without a first hand view of the most famous residence in the nation: The White House.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 990px"><img title="United States Capitol" src="http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6113/6997237273_805c393fe4_b.jpg" alt="6997237273 805c393fe4 b 8 Gorgeous Photos of Washington DC (in Black and White)" width="980" height="653" /><p class="wp-caption-text">United States Capitol</p></div>
<h1>8. U.S. Capitol</h1>
<p>But the most iconic landmark of all, depicted on the US $50 note, is the United States Capitol!</p>
<h2>Have you been to Washington DC?</h2>

<p>The natural beauty is enough to entice anyone to Oahu&#8217;s shores.</p>
<p>Combine it with the luxury of <a title="Waikiki Hotels" href="http://www.aquaresorts.com/" target="_blank">Waikiki hotels</a>, ideal weather, and a buzzing collection of cities worth exploring, and you&#8217;ve got all the makings of a perfect vacation.</p>
<p>But what gives Hawaii its character that is so often mentioned?</p>
<p>The Islands celebrate a rich cultural heritage that is evident the second you step off of the plane. When visiting Oahu, getting a taste of island life is essential, and there is no better way to do so than by attending a <strong>luau</strong>!</p>
<p>With the music, food, heat, dance, clothing, and the atmosphere, you&#8217;ll acclimate yourself quickly to the Aloha spirit that is celebrated worldwide. Here are a few of the more famous ones that you can attend when visiting, so that you can return home with the Hula perfected!</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="Polynesian Cultural Center" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5251/5549337798_e3145cd799_z.jpg" alt="5549337798 e3145cd799 z 3 of the Best Hawaiian Luaus on Oahu" width="640" height="480" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Polynesian Cultural Center</p></div>
<h1>Polynesian Cultural Center</h1>
<p>Raved about by locals and tourists alike for its authenticity, the <strong>Ali&#8217;i Luau</strong> at the Polynesian Cultural Center promises a full evening of food, dance, and music.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ll taste freshly cooked Pua (Pig in Hawaiian), as well as other authentic Polynesian and Hawaiian dishes, all while watching traditional hula dancing set to beautiful music and surrounded by palm trees and lit torches.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="Germaine's Luau" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3444/3178155713_9878bbd1cd_z.jpg" alt="3178155713 9878bbd1cd z 3 of the Best Hawaiian Luaus on Oahu" width="640" height="480" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Germaine&#39;s Luau</p></div>
<h1>Germaine&#8217;s Luau</h1>
<p>Closer to Waikiki and Honolulu, but still distant enough to maintain a less-touristic feel is <strong>Germaine&#8217;s Luau</strong>. The luau has been going since the &#8217;70s, and shows no signs of letting up. Buffet style eating will let you sample a number of different dishes. Make sure you head back for dessert before the start of the show, which features many different Pacific Island dances, including the Slap Dance, which comes all the way from Samoa.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="Paradise Cove Luau" src="http://farm1.staticflickr.com/64/195126189_83bea1ee06_z.jpg?zz=1" alt=" 3 of the Best Hawaiian Luaus on Oahu" width="640" height="480" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Paradise Cove Luau</p></div>
<h1>Paradise Cove Luau</h1>
<p>For a luau that features some very hands on elements, turn to <strong>Paradise Cove Luau</strong> for an evening of fun. With arts, crafts and games available, it&#8217;s perfect for young children, while moments like the &#8220;Shower of Flowers&#8221; can contribute to a romantic atmosphere you and that special someone can appreciate. When you&#8217;re handed your Mai Tai upon arrival, you&#8217;ll know you&#8217;ve found the right place!</p>
<p>Taste, feel, and hear some of the many elements that make Hawaii special at an authentic island luau! You and your companions won&#8217;t regret it!</p>

<p>The street food in New York is worth visiting the city for alone.</p>
<p>Walk around the streets of the Big Apple and of course you’ll come across the famous hot dog vendors with their carts, but there’s so much more to the street food of New York.</p>
<p>It’s a competitive business and only the tastiest will survive.</p>
<p>I recommend you forego the restaurants so you can make time to work your way through the menu at these delicious food trucks…</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="New York Street Food" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7025/6701712729_560a582b22_o.jpg" alt="6701712729 560a582b22 o 5 of the Best New York Street Food Trucks" width="640" height="427" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Wafels &amp; Dinges</p></div>
<h1>1. Wafels &amp; Dinges</h1>
<p>There are five sweet waffles to choose from at <a href="http://www.wafelsanddinges.com/" target="_blank">Wafels &amp; Dinges</a>, including the de verdekke – a waffles and ice cream sandwich squashed between chewy wafers.</p>
<p>You can add yummy fillings like bananas, strawberries and Nutella. There are also two savoury waffles on the menu, in the form of a BBQ pulled pork waffle with coleslaw, sweet barbecue sauce and a coolickle, or there’s the de bacon + syrup waffle, which they describe as ‘scandalous’, whatever you choose make sure you don’t forget your ‘dinges’ &#8211; a waffle topping!</p>
<p>Wafels &amp; Dinges has five trucks in their fleet. Four have permanent locations: the ‘Vedette’ cart at the gate of Central Park Zoo, the ‘Kotmadam’ cart at the Great Lawn near the 85thSt entrance, the Goesting is stationed in front of Eataly daily and the ‘Bierbeek’ cart at Columbus Circle in front of the Time Warner building. Their flagship truck, the roaming ‘Papa Truck&#8217;’ cart makes its way around New York selling delicious waffles as it goes.</p>
<p>Follow <a title="Waffle Truck" href="https://twitter.com/waffletruck" target="_blank">@waffletruck</a> on Twitter for up-to-date information on where the truck is today.</p>
<div id="attachment_10871" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img class="size-full wp-image-10871" title="Frites’N’Meats" src="http://migrationology.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/frites-n.jpg" alt="frites n 5 of the Best New York Street Food Trucks" width="640" height="427" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Frites’N’Meats</p></div>
<h1>2. Frites’N’Meats</h1>
<p>With a catchphrase like ‘Saving the world, One Burger at a time’ you would naturally expect the best.</p>
<p>The brains behind <a href="http://www.fritesnmeats.com/">Frites’N’Meats</a> just wanted to create a mouth-watering, juicy, perfectly cooked burger, served with some killer fries at a good price, they have done just that. This burger is made with thought, they cook each patty to medium-rare so by the time you get to where you’re going the heat insulating wrapping cooks it to medium.</p>
<p>There are four burgers to choose from including ‘<em>grass fed angus</em>’ and the ‘<em>wagyu american kobe</em>’, and five cheeses as well as 11 toppings to create the perfect burger for you.</p>
<p>You can choose between six aioli sauces for your frites, including sundried tomato and wasabi mayo, difficult decisions are to be made at Frites’N’Meats I think.</p>
<p>Keep up with them on the road on Twitter <a title="Frites'N'Meats" href="https://twitter.com/fritesnmeats" target="_blank">@fritesnmeats</a>.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="The Treats Truck" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7166/6701714613_c458eb3684_o.jpg" alt="6701714613 c458eb3684 o 5 of the Best New York Street Food Trucks" width="640" height="480" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Deserts Nachos at the The Treats Truck</p></div>
<h1>3. The Treats Truck</h1>
<p><a href="http://www.treatstruck.com/">The Treats Truck</a> has regular stops around New York – keep up with them by following their <a title="The Treats Truck" href="https://twitter.com/thetreatstruck" target="_blank">@TheTreatsTruck</a> on Twitter.</p>
<p>The truck – known as ‘<strong>Sugar</strong>’ – is filled with freshly baked cookies, brownies, crispy squares, oatmeal cookies and caramel crème sandwiches and people flock from afar to get their delicious sugar fix for the day.</p>
<p>The intelligence behind it comes from Kim Ima, who wanted to spend her days serving up delicious treats to the New York boroughs. You can order in deliveries, or do as I’d do and just pass by and try one of everything. You can even buy Treats Trucks Dollars for a friend or treat someone to a Gift Box filled with sweet goodies.</p>
<div id="attachment_10862" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img class="size-full wp-image-10862" title="Schnitzel &amp; Things" src="http://migrationology.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/snitchet.jpg" alt="snitchet 5 of the Best New York Street Food Trucks" width="640" height="429" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Schnitzel &amp; Things</p></div>
<h1>4. Schnitzel &amp; Things</h1>
<p>For hearty Austrian fare to keep you on the go all day you need <a href="http://www.schnitzelandthings.com/">Schnitzel &amp; Things</a> in your life.</p>
<p>The food is prepared daily by founders Oleg Voss and Jared Greenhouse, and they’re the only mobile food truck serving authentic schnitzel.</p>
<p>They hand pound the lightly breaded thin cutlet of meat – either chicken, veal or pork – and then fry it to perfection. Go for the platter off the menu and it’ll be served alongside some Austrian potato salad, cucumber salad and a lemon wedge.</p>
<p>But the food fun doesn’t stop there; you can also indulge in a little bratwurst sausage served with sauerkraut while you’re there too. For dessert make sure you try the Tahitian vanilla panacotta, the tartness will give you a kick.</p>
<p>Keep up with them on Twitter <a title="Schnitzel and Things" href="https://twitter.com/#!/schnitznthings" target="_blank">@schnitznthings</a>.</p>
<div id="attachment_10870" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img class="size-full wp-image-10870" title="Souvlaki GR" src="http://migrationology.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/souvalaki.jpg" alt="souvalaki 5 of the Best New York Street Food Trucks" width="640" height="427" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Souvlaki GR</p></div>
<h1>5. Souvlaki GR</h1>
<p><a href="http://www.souvlakigr.com/">Souvlaki GR</a> is the only food truck in New York City serving authentic Greek street food.</p>
<p>They’re award-winning fare is so popular they’ve even opened a shop. But the famous truck is still going, serving tasty souvlaki to anyone it passes. The traditional combination of charcoal grilled meat, wrapped in a warm pitta with tzatziki sauce, tomato, onion is perfectly formed in the Souvlakitruck by founder Kostas Plagos and friends.</p>
<p>You’ll always get French fries done the Greek way – topped with Feta cheese – to go alongside your meal, and the prices are cheap and cheerful.</p>
<p>Find out where they’re headed next on Twitter at <a title="Souvlaki GR" href="https://twitter.com/souvlakitruck" target="_blank">@souvlakitruck</a>.</p>
<p>If you can’t resist trying these tasty treats and are planning a trip to The Big City, why not browse through some of these <a href="http://www.hostelbookers.com/hotels/usa/new-york-city/">cheap New York hotels</a> and you’ll have all the more money to spend on trying out different cuisines.</p>

<p>Views of two main waterfalls, mists spraying in your face, and the rushing of the Niagara River all combine to give one a spectacular experience of visiting Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.</p>
<p>Walking along the cliff overlooking the river, you can easily spend hours gazing into the falls and marveling at such a masterpiece. Horseshoe Falls affords a more panoramic view of a water curtain, while American Falls is beautifully laden with sprays falling atop large rocks. Gazing at the view is another one of the world&#8217;s <a title="Inspirational travel photos" href="http://migrationology.com/2011/03/33-photos-that-will-make-you-jump-out-of-your-chair-and-travel/" target="_blank">inspirational travel moments</a>.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="Niagara Falls, Ontario" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6017/5911771168_bf8e8e32a5_o.jpg" alt="5911771168 bf8e8e32a5 o Visiting Niagara Falls from Ontario, Canada" width="640" height="480" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Niagara Falls, Ontario</p></div>
<p>Additionally, the city of Niagara Falls, Ontario offers shopping, dining and entertainment. The falls are often still visible while roaming through the city. Enjoy a cup of coffee while strolling, and be prepared for the cool breezes flowing off the water.</p>
<p>One can even adventure atop the <a title="Skylon Tower" href="http://www.skylon.com/" target="_blank">Skylon Tower</a> for a high-up view. Boat-rides on the river towards the falls allow for a close-up experience.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="Mists of Niagara Falls" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6025/5911201259_00f97004e7_o.jpg" alt="5911201259 00f97004e7 o Visiting Niagara Falls from Ontario, Canada" width="640" height="480" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Mists of Niagara Falls</p></div>
<p>While mists of water flowing off of the intense waterfalls will often make it difficult to escape without getting wet, this simply adds to the dynamic of the experience. You will see not only rushing falls but sprays of water pouring into the air. <em>Visiting Niagara Falls is truly a sight to behold!</em></p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img title="Niagara Falls at Night" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6016/5911760772_c3b38037cc_o.jpg" alt="5911760772 c3b38037cc o Visiting Niagara Falls from Ontario, Canada" width="640" height="480" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Niagara Falls at Night</p></div>
<p>Stay through the evening and experience an array of lights that are shone onto the falls in shades of reds, yellows, greens, purples and blues. These enormous lights bring another level of depth to the water and specifically highlight the waterfalls.</p>
<p>You can see the close-up colors of the lit up city of Niagara Falls, Canada, and then look across the river and see the lights of New York state shining behind American Falls.</p>
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px"><img class=" " title="View of Niagara Falls" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5313/5911770964_8ee8be08c8_o.jpg" alt="5911770964 8ee8be08c8 o Visiting Niagara Falls from Ontario, Canada" width="640" height="480" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Visiting Niagara Falls</p></div>
<p>Anyone who enjoys the intense beauty of the water will love taking in the sights and <strong>visiting Niagara Falls, Ontario</strong>!</p>
<p><strong>Have you been to Niagara Falls? Would love to hear what you thought!</strong></p>

<h3><span style="color: #333399;">5.  Shave Ice</span></h3>
<p>Whether it be <a title="Waiola Shave Ice Hawaii" href="http://migrationology.com/2009/03/waiola-shave-ice-hawaii/" target="_self">Waiola</a> or Matsumoto, one must indulge in shave ice.</p>
<h3><span style="color: #333399;">6.  Eat Plate Lunches</span></h3>
<p>Popular take away plastic containers of local style food, usually consisting of a meat such as bbq beef or chicken katsu, with 1 scoop of macaroni salad and 2 scoops of rice.</p>
<h3><span style="color: #333399;">7.  Pali Lookout</span></h3>
<p>Drive the Pali highway to the lookout and enjoy the cool blowing breeze and excellent views.</p>
<h3><span style="color: #333399;">8.  Sandy Beach</span></h3>
<p>Get torn up by the choppy water and waves breaking into the sand.  Great place to body board or body surf.</p>
<h3><span style="color: #333399;">9.  Drive around the Island</span></h3>
<p>It only takes a couple hours, yet it can be spread out to take a whole day with various stops along the way.</p>
<h3><span style="color: #333399;">10.  Waikiki</span></h3>
<p>Tourism central can be a great place to shop, eat, and just look at the gobs of random tourists. It&#8217;s also a great place to stay as some of the island&#8217;s most popular resorts are located here (check out the <a href="http://www.sellmytimesharenow.com/hgvc-hilton-grand-waikikian/">Hilton Grand Waikikian</a>, a timeshare resort).</p>
<h3><span style="color: #333399;">11.  Ala Moana Center</span></h3>
<p>A huge open air mall that has hundreds of stores and one of the more extraordinary food courts I&#8217;ve ever seen, Makai Market.  It can take hours just to decide what to order.</p>
