Cobra Snake Charmer in Sri Lanka

I thought that watching a cobra snake charmer in Sri Lanka was one of the coolest things to do in Colombo. It was really entertaining to watch!

The movements of both the snake and the charmer were equally interesting.

Nice one! I’ve seen a bunch of street-side snake charmers in India… they’re pretty funny, aren’t they? What’s even spookier are the ear-cleaner guys!

Hah, yah! I’ve never been to India, but I’ve seen some ear cleaners, and I agree, I’m so scared of doing that… one slip and oops, no more hearing for you.

That’s a fantastic photo. I know so because I am absolutely terrified of snakes and this pic has just given me the shivers! ;)

Not to be a wet blanket, but I have heared that many times these snakes have their mouths sewn shut. Since many people believe the tongue holds the venom, the snakes have just enough space so that their toungues can come out. Of ocurse, this means the snakes can’t eat, so they die quickly.

    KInda depressing. :(

Hey Caanan, I’ve heard, and been hearing some similar things… Didn’t know at the time, but yah, kinda depressing to hear that.

Aaah the snake charmer. We’ve got a lot of those in India too, Sri Lanka is not that much different. But must say these cobra’s are amazing to look at. Deadly it may look they are indeed amazing creatures.
