Vietnamese street food salad

Vietnam is a wonderful place for food lovers, and I spent much of my time hanging out on the streets eating Hanoi street food.

This plate of salad was made of shredded papaya, herbs, peanuts, a fried quail on top and a tasty sweet and sour dressing poured all over.

You can watch this video to get a better feeling for eating street food in Hanoi.

mark: i had baked quail at my place…but they stop doing it because the quail population took a back seat. On a salad i never had.

Not strange, only different. :-) You were in food photography utopia while snapping that one. Not sure if I could bit into that head, but it does look like it was marinated in something very tasty.

It was, very tasty, a nice sweet and soy sauce marinade that went well with the rest of the salad as well!

This brings back memories! To say “street food” is to say “how to eat in Vietnam”, since the streets seem to be an extension of their homes. I also did a street food trek in Hoi An which was as informative as it was delicious (cue the mouth watering at this very moment :) ) http://wp.me/p1DSu5-Ot
