Old High Court, Stone Town, Zanzibar

Location: Stone Town, Zanzibar Island, Tanzania

Though the Zanzibar wooden door has been removed, I came to truly admire this Moorish style former High Court in Stone Town, Zanzibar. The overall weathering, paired with the aging of the structure has turned this building into a remarkable deserted structure.

Yah, I remember seeing some lovely Moorish building in KL. As a World Heritage site, I think Stone Town has some good preservation efforts.

It’s just so fortunate it’s still standing.A whiff of history even comes off your picture.

You’re right, tropical weather conditions are not ideal for preservation, but I sure love the effect it created on the walls!

That’s a really good photo; it seems to tell a whole story. Have Zanzibar near the top of my list. Even more tempting now.

That’s a beautiful building. I always love the older buildings where the paintwork and rendering is crumbling away. Probably not great for the building but they look better; more historic. :)

I fully agree, the aging and weathering looks so cool, despite deteriorating the overall structure.
