Luscious Malaysian Curry Laksa

Malaysian Curry Laksa

Restaurant: Kedai Kopi Yee Fung
Location: Gaya Street (close to Stay In Lodge), Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia
Cost: 5 MYR ($1.55)

With an artful composition, an ambrosial aroma, a flavor from paradise, and a satisfaction that surpasses understanding, it’s no wonder I spent my last 5 Ringgits on a delightful bowl of Malaysian Curry Laksa and was forced to walk myself to the airport…

Curry Laksa is a combination of flavors that you dream about having in your mouth all at once.  The creamy coconut curry soup blends with the soft rice noodles as the shredded chicken, boiled shrimp, and fried tofu puffs, play their part by soaking up the curry.  Fresh herbs, a squeeze of lime, and chili sambal sauce, all work to boost the flavor to Utopian heights.

laksa shot Luscious Malaysian Curry LaksaCurry Laksa is similar to eating Thai Kanom Jeen but possibly with a richer and maybe slightly heartier blend.  I gobbled it down, thoroughly enjoying it till the last drop of liquid did us part and then continuing to lick the bowl spic-and-span.

As I said farewell to my final 5 Ringgits at the mercy of the contents of a plastic bowl, acknowledging that I would have to trek the 6 km to the airport, I knew I had made the right decision…

A bowl of laksa over a taxi to the airport is a true sign of a food-addict! Although, I’d probably do the same in Malaysia.

I’ve never heard of Kanom Jeen during my travels in Thailand but I have certainly taken note for next time…

Things I loved about Malaysia, was food. Delicious yet so cheap! All the street vendors, noodle, satay, .. mmmm

@Earl: It’s definitely worth it! Yah, you have got to try Kanom Jeen next visit to Bangkok. My favorite sauce is Nam Ya Kati with all the toppings.

@Juno: You are right about food in Malaysia, and I fully agree.

Yummmmm! Ditto Earls’ comment – that’s a true foodie’s choice. I’m sure you reveled in your decision all the way to the airport. Gotta love a good curry!

I’m embarrassed to say that being born in Malaysia’s neighbour country, I’m not so familiar with their food. I have laksa before, and it’s heavenly good. Not sure what kind of laksa was that. I think it has some coconut milk taste in it. Your pictures are so good, I feel almost can taste it just from the appearance.
